A clean, sophisticated signage scheme that elevates the restaurant's street presence on one of London's busiest corners
A Restaurant That Demands Perfection
Amelia is a desirable dining destination in Charing Cross where every detail of the brand has been considered. When they needed signage to match that standard, they came to Sign Architects. The brief was clear: bespoke, refined, and absolutely no compromise on quality.
Central London — Never Straightforward
Working in the heart of the West End brings a unique set of challenges that most signage companies would rather avoid. Restricted vehicle access, narrow time windows for installation, coordination with Westminster Council, and the constant pressure of working on a busy public street. Every element of the logistics had to be planned meticulously before a single tool came out of the van.
What Made This Project Demanding
- Charing Cross location with restricted access and loading restrictions
- Tight installation timeframes — work windows measured in hours, not days
- Complex corner building requiring signage on multiple elevations
- Strict brand guidelines dictating exact materials, finishes, and letter profiles
- Coordination with building management and local authority requirements
Fabrication to Brand Specification
The signage was manufactured in our Barking workshop to exact brand specifications. Halo-lit channel letters with a warm glow that creates presence without overwhelming the building's architecture. Each letter was individually fabricated, finished, and tested before leaving the workshop — because in Central London, you don't get a second chance at installation.
Installation on a Busy London Corner
The building sits on a prominent corner in Charing Cross, meaning the signage needed to work from multiple angles and elevations. Our installation team worked within the permitted hours, using access equipment suited to the tight pavement conditions. The result is three illuminated sign faces that read perfectly whether you're approaching from any direction — day or night.
A Signage Scheme That Speaks Quietly and Carries Weight
The finished installation is exactly what Amelia needed — sophisticated, understated, and impossible to miss. The warm halo illumination draws the eye without shouting, the letterforms are precise and elegant, and the overall effect elevates the restaurant's presence on a street full of competing visual noise. Sometimes the best signage is the kind that looks like it was always there.
